Welcome to my personal webpage! I'm Melih Çakar, a MSc. Student at Department of Earth Sciences of FU Berlin in Planetary Sciences and Space Exploration Program
My research interests lie in microorganisms and their evolutionary and ecological dynamics in challenging conditions, particularly in astrobiology-related fields. I'm specifically interested in the effects of global change on microbial populations and how they respond to these alterations in terms of genomic and ecological aspects, as well as their cooperative and collaborative strategies along with preservation of these stress markers in geological sampling areas.
While creating this page, sharing my research and science communication activities was not my only motivation. I'm also thrilled to share my academic experiences (hopefully they will in both English and Turkish), which I believe have contributed to my studies a lot. I aim to navigate and inspire potential candidates in basic sciences, where students may have doubts about pursuing a career. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions.
I'll try to keep this page updated as much as possible! Any comments or engagements are very important to me.
